Le Gîte
A
fter travelling and living in various parts of the world, we (Joost and Sze) spent one and a half years to overhaul a 185 years bourgeoise house into La Min-sú de Terrasson (石木民宿) with our own hands.
Our proposition; 'Experience our twist on the min-sú / guesthouse, combining European charm with personal cosmopolitan experience. A kind of oriental subtleness; being comfortable but not conspicuous; sophisticated but not trop chic'.'

Over the years we have also transformed the grange with our bare hands again, standing detached at the back of the house, into La Min-sú de Terrasson - Le Gîte guided by the same principles. Creating an open space duplex, preserving the en pierre walls and wooden charpente, but with a clean modern twist of “Quiet Luxury”. To serve more independent clients by providing a self-contained space, with its own entrance and garden.
What’s the difference with the guesthouse?
'A gîte is a place generally intended for people looking for temporary accommodation in France. It includes all the equipment necessary to live independently. A gîte, also called ‘meublé de tourisme’, is rented for a stay of several nights or weeks, up to 90 days.
A gîte is often located within a larger building, or part off a larger property. Tenants can come and go freely and stay without assistance during their entire stay'.

Therefore, gîtes and guesthouses do not operate on the same principles. Gîtes are rentals of an entire unit. Guesthouses are much closer to host where you rent only a room from the owner. The french law considers gîtes to be 'furnished tourist accommodation'. The term gîte is used more for its rural aspect. Guest houses serve a breakfast to their guests while gîtes do not.
Through La Min-sú de Terrasson - Le Gîte we reach out to more independent, non-guided and self-driving guests (car rental available at Brive airport and close to Brive trainstation), with its own kitchen, bathroom, living room, entrance and garden. The gîte has a double sleeping room with a double bed (max. 2 persons). And a double pull-out sofa bed (futon) that would allow for max. 2 additional persons.
Of course we are available to inform you on activities and itineraries. For those who prefer the full guesthouse services special package can be offered too!
